The programs offered at Sun Country include gymnastics, dance, rock climbing, swimming, a ninja zone, karate and more. We also offer competitive teams that travel and compete nationally, throughout the country. Sun Country also provides the community with a nationally accredited preschool and after-school program. My favorite thing about being involved with Sun Country is getting to make a direct impact on kids’ lives.
We work with youth of all ages. There are some kids that I worked with when they were eight, nine, and ten-years old—and now they work for us, here at Sun Country as after-school counselors while they’re attending college. We have a girl who is on our Level Nine gymnastics team, who started in our preschool gymnastics program when she was two-years old and has climbed her way through our system and is now working on earning a college scholarship with our USA Gymnastics team. If you’ve ever thought about doing some of these activities with your kids, I would highly encourage it.
Getting kids active and fit is good for their self-esteem, motivation, and their gross-motor development. Our mission at Sun Country Sports Center is for everybody to feel better about themselves when they walk of out of our doors than they do when they walk into our facility. It is great to see when they [kids] walk out of our doors after better than when they walked in – it just makes my day.
Connectivity is so important to us here at Sun Country because we must be able to provide video streaming for our students who participate in remote classes and for our parents who want to watch their child remotely through our security camera system. We’re also such a big place with 20-different department managers. There are times where multiple managers are on virtual meetings at the same time—requiring a good, strong upload capability.
At Sun Country we have a big marketing department. Our team loves uploading videos of the different activities we offer and highlighting students who complete difficult tricks. We also have hundreds of families that are here every day and the parents want to join our guest Wi-Fi all at once. Being able to provide a fast and secure connection is why it’s so important for us to have good, quality connectivity.
We first heard about Uniti through my friend Jennifer Phillips— a Rep for a great fiber company. We started talking and realized that Uniti Fiber would be a great fit for us here at Sun Country. It turned out that we are right on the Uniti footprint! They had fiber going right through our neighborhood which allowed us to get the ball rolling on construction. Within two days, they ran fiber all the way under our parking lot and lit our building without any disruptions.
Since our first day of service, it’s been constant online service that hasn’t stopped at all. Even with numerous storms here in Florida, in the past we’d experience downtime. With Uniti, no effect or service outages at all. Uniti’s customer service has also been outstanding. However, we haven’t really needed their customer service much because of the reliability of their service! The whole process has been top-notch. The bandwidth has been fantastic. There haven’t been any latency issues. It’s constantly fast!
Lastly, having a secure space for children and their families while being here at Sun Country is important to us. With hundreds of families involved in our activities or just enrolled in our database, our live-feed streaming security cameras and just maintaining that safe environment is something that must be top-notch—and that’s what we get from Uniti. It’s allowed us to focus on the things that are more important to us, like making the difference in the kids’ lives, here in our community.
