Here at Uniti Fiber, it’s common knowledge that we provide customers with the necessary infrastructure to get business done in an efficient and cost-effective way. But what a lot of people may not know is we also offer peace of mind and business continuity through co-location at our University of South Alabama data center. These services include physical rackspace, uninterrupted power supply systems, backup generators, high quality cooling systems, fire suppression, proper ventilation, physical security, and connections to external networks.
To give us a little more in-depth look at the technical aspects of the data center is our Director of Critical Facilities, Davis Pilot.
Our USA Data Center is really something special that you won’t find anywhere else in our region. It stands in its own class of co-location facilities along the Gulf Coast. What truly sets it apart from other locations is our robust standby power infrastructure. While our power infrastructure was primarily designed and built to withstand power loss events, it was also carefully crafted with the forethought to provide us the ability to properly maintain our equipment during routine operations.
Our redundant design extends down to the A and B power strips installed in each cabinet. That includes A and B buses on the switch gear, A and B online double conversion UPSs, A and B diesel standby generators, and redundant backup power systems throughout down to the breaker level. The facility generators are sized to independently handle the full load of the data center, meaning dual-corded equipment is protected beyond single points of failure. This combination of redundant components and concurrent maintainability is what guarantees continued uptime for your vital equipment’s needs.
Our building monitoring system gives our technicians the ability to see the health of the facility in real time with an added ability to see historical trends in event logs for the value since the day of the data center’s inception. In addition to our power infrastructure, we’ve designed robust HVAC systems that provide an optimal temperature and humidity environment for your sensitive equipment’s needs. Our closed loop design means no mixed air throughout the facility, which allows us to deliver optimal temperature to properly cool equipment with higher power density than a typical hot aisle/cold aisle environment alone.
Our data center is in a convenient to access, yet secure location that is equipped with two-factor authentication access controls, 24/7 monitored security cameras and lockable cabinets with unique pin combinations. When it comes to peace of mind for your company’s data storage solutions, there’s no better place to be than here.
As technological advances continue to change the way organizations do business, the need for data and power increases. Often, the significant increase in resources is too much for many companies to handle internally or with existing corporate infrastructure. Many hours and personnel are required to maintain the high demand. However, by moving your onsite IT infrastructure to our data center, you can reduce costs, boost uptime, scale seamlessly, and mitigate security and compliance risks. High-speed network connections between your premises and our data center give you rapid access to your servers and storage just as if they were installed in your own office.
For many businesses today, co-location just makes sense. It provides the infrastructure and the security of a dedicated data center without the cost of maintaining that type of facility. Yet, you can access your data and equipment the same way you do when servers are installed in-house. And the advantage of opting for a local co-location facility is that you can have access to your hardware and your data at all times.
Whether you’re looking for a location to house your company’s primary server equipment or looking for an offsite facility to house your backup servers, you will have the peace of mind knowing your equipment will always be up and running, even in the event of power outages and natural disasters. Locating your server cabinet in our data center means you won’t have to worry about costly downtime that can affect both your business operations and your company’s bottom line.
